    The competition features both elite and popular (or recreational) sections within the half marathon

    At senderotravels, we believe that travel is the best way to learn about the Colombian culture. Our tours and packages are designed to immerse you in the local way of life, from food to customs and traditions.

    The Bogota Half Marathon is one of the largest half marathons of the world with around 45,000 runners. The city is has an elevation of 2,600 meters(8,500 ft) and presents a beautiful challenge for any runner.

    DAY 1.  Welcome to our exciting tour of the historic area of Bogotá! We will begin our day by picking you up at your hotel and heading to the heart of the historic city center. Our first destination is the emblematic Plaza de Bolívar, the political and cultural epicenter of Bogotá, where you can admire the majesty of the Primada Cathedral and immerse yourself in the history of the city. From there, we'll head into the cobblestone streets of La Candelaria to visit the Botero Museum, which houses an impressive collection of works by renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero. We will continue our tour to the Casa de la Moneda, a historical monument that will transport us to Colombia's colonial past, and then we will marvel at the cultural wealth of the García Márquez Cultural Center. To culminate our cultural exploration, we will visit the famous Gold Museum, where you will discover the fascinating history of Colombia's ancient indigenous civilizations through its impressive collection of gold artifacts. Then we will go to Monserrate and enjoy Bogotá from the heights.

    ITINERARY

    DAY 2. ENJOY THE RACE!  We will pick you up at the hotel and you will be transported to the starting point of the race in a comfortable and safe VAN. After the race, we will take you back to the hotel and then transfer you to Matildelina restaurant, for a time of celebration. We offer and recommend the option of accommodation outside of Bogotá in order to be close to the attractions of the additional days.

    DAY 3. Welcome to a day full of history, culture and impressive landscapes! We will begin our day by picking you up at your hotel and heading to the picturesque street of murals in Sesquilé, where you can immerse yourself in the rich Muisca culture and learn about their ancestral traditions through the colorful artistic representations that adorn the streets. From there, we will go to the impressive Laguna del Cacique de Guatavita, a magical place full of myths and legends.

    Once at Guatavita Lagoon, you will enjoy a tour of approximately two hours, where you will be able to marvel at the natural beauty of the landscape and learn about the fascinating history behind this emblematic lagoon, considered by many to be the inspiration for the legend of El Dorado. After this enriching experience, we will paraglide into paradise with the best viewpoint, a magical place where you will be able to enjoy a jump or canopy or other activities that you wish, in the afternoon-evening we will return to the hotel.

    DAY  4. We will head towards the Neusa reservoir, a magical place surrounded by exuberant nature and impressive landscapes. Here, you will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings while you savor a delicious lunch typical of the region, prepared with the most authentic flavors and with the best view of the place.

    We will continue our day with a visit to the majestic Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá, where you will have the unique opportunity to pedal through the halls of this impressive underground structure. Immerse yourself in the history and architectural beauty of this site while enjoying an unforgettable experience,

    We’ll finish our day with a dinner at Andres Carne de Res restaurant in Chia.
