Day 1. The first day will be logistics. We will transfer you from the airport to the hotel in Rionegro, we will collect the bicycles to assemble them. We will have a tour and dinner in Medellin to get to know each other better and to explain the tour activities.
Day 2. This day is for acclimatization and activation. We’ll have the first ride on the plateau of the Oriente Antioqueño, surrounded by emerald mountains. There are some short climbs, but we will avoid all long climbs for today it will be an easy ride. In the afternoon we’ll visit Guatapé and have lunch. Later on, we’ll depart to Norcasia for our fascinating adventure of day 3.
Day 3. We’ll start our day with another conditioning ride. The short ride will be to Puente Hierro, where we can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of waterfalls of the region. The ride will be of 44 km. After returning to the hotel we can enjoy a relaxing day in the Rio de la Miel (Honey River) and the Amaní Reservoir. In the evening we’ll depart to Mariquita for the big day of climbing Alto de Letras.
Day 4. Today is the grand day to climb Alto de Letras (the summit of Letras), a big accomplishment in the life of any cyclist. The route starts in Mariquita and will pass by Padua, one the most beautiful scenic routes in the Central Cordillera of the Andes. Letras is not only the longest climb for cyclists in the world, due to its length and altitude, it is considered also one of the toughest climbs in the world. Over a distance of 81 km, we climb from altitude of under 500 m above sea level to 3,700 m with an elevation gain of about 4,000 m.
After the climb, we’ll go to our hotel in the Volcanoes National Park for an evening of celebration and relax.
Day 5. Our last day we’ll enjoy the thermal waters of the Los Nevados National Park and the numerous trails around the hot spring which connects to waterfalls, spring waters. The thermal waters are full of minerals.
We’ll return to Medellin stopping in Manizales for a short tour of the city.
